Rev. Mike Beck graduated from Taylor University in 1971 and spent ten years in education before sensing God's call to ministry. He graduated from Asbury Theological Seminary in 1985 and served in full-time ministry in the South Indiana Conference of the United Methodist Church from 1984-2006.
He served as the Associate Pastor at Greensburg (1984-1989) and was the Senior Pastor at Corydon Old Capitol (1989-1997) and Franklin Grace (1997-2006). By adapting his ministry style and empowering the laity for their ministry, both of his last two churches grew by 50 percent despite his struggle with speaking due to the onset of a rare neurological disorder, Spasmodic Dysphonia, in 1992. He was forced to go on disability in 2006 when he developed three other dystonias affecting his eyes, right hand, and the muscles in his lower face. In 2011, he authored the book, No Longer Silent: Doing Pastoral Ministry With Excellence and Grace.
Assisted now by his wife, Mickey, Rev. Mike continues to preach on occasion, filling in for pastors on vacation. He is also available to do Leadership Training workshops for churches.
You can contact him about preaching or leadership workshops at the following address: 8545 Belle Union Court, Camby, IN 46113 or by e-mail at revmikebeck@comcast.net
